Upcoming Special Events / Activities:
On the Wednesday of Heritage Week, February 22 2017, David Panton, a long time member of the Community Museum Association of PEI, assisted by his daughter Heather Panton, also a member of the CMAPEI, made a presentation on the Canadian National Vimy Memorial to a group at Souris Regional High School. This group, of in excess of 20 students and teachers, will be visiting there on April 9 2017 for ceremonies surrounding the centenary of the Battle of Vimy Ride. As visual aids he used you may see on the table in the photo, by Ms Panton,(Left Side) from right to left, a fuse from a World War One artillery shell, a bag of Shrapnel Balls, both from his own collection, two World War One Trench Maps printed on linen on loan to him from Greg Gallant, the President of the CMAPEI, and an orange purchased at a local supermarket. As back drop he used a photo,(Right side) he took of the Vimy Monument two days after its rededication by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth on April 9th 2007.
CMA-PEI will be making an official announcement in February about how we will be celebrating the 150th anniversary of confederation this summer!
