You can see the waters of Malpeque Bay and
Darnley Basin from the Museum. Makpaak was the first name given by the Mi'kmaq people
before the Acadians came after 1720, and the Scots settled the area in 1770.

The Museum portrays this land and the waters around it, and tells the
stories of the generations who have lived here, through pipctures, original documents,
houseold furnishings and family heirlooms.
Farm implements and shell-fishing gear are part of the display. So are the magnificent
Owen Bell, Dr. Keir's medical instruments and the large anchor from an eighteenth century
ship.
In the Victorian kitchen volunteer crafts people demonstrate weaving and rug-hooking.
Children may sit on our bicycle wit wooden rims or they can work in the old Baltic
schoolroom. Each season features a special exhibition from local collectors.
The Princetown congregation's hearse was built
by Mr. Pound of Margate in 1887. |
