The Nellie J. Banks was one such vessel becomming famous in the Maritimes in the early days of rum-running. The Nellie J. Banks spent over twelve years smuggling illegal alcohol to P.E.I. This rum barrel is known to be one of the ones used by the crew of the Nellie J. Banks.
