Object History
Flapper style handbag from Art Deco period. Art Deco zig zag, geometrical, jumbled shapes, opulent style. The lavishness can be attributed to a reaction against the forced austerity imposed by WWI. Seed beads also known as micro beads are any glass or metal beads with diameter of .04-.24.
Description
Purse: doubled up link chain, attached to opposite sides of the frame; frame is 4cm wide by 10 cm long, 3 mm thick each; frame has black enamel and flower and leaves embossed design; brass cabochon clasp in center frame; frame attached to main body of purse by thread through small holes in frame; body of purse is microbeads in grey, steel beads round shaped, gold and blue are multifaceted; two geometric swirls of blue beads on each side, gold color beads through out; four groups of fringe at bottom are in a criss cross pattern then flow loose in various lengths; lining of purse is hand stitched beige satin. “MADE IN FRANCE”.
