Object History

Donated by Anne Turner who wore the crown as winner of the “Queen of the Furrows” pageant. The pageant was held during the Prince County Plowing Match in O’Leary. The ladies were sponsored by local businesses. The plowing match is now the Provincial Plowing Match & Agriculture Fair held in Dundas. O’Leary is home to the Potato Blossom festival now.

Description

Crown: round, blue, gold, white, velvet, rabbit fur, unknown cardboard substance spray painted gold, mesh netting; three small plastic gold balls on intersecting lines of crown pinned on; two fleur de lis shapes measuring 6cm high and 8.5 cm wide and two crosses measuring 4.5 cm and 6 cm wide are attached by staples above fur base; band of fur 3.5cm wide is hand stitched in white and brown thread to blue velvet. Height 14.4 Diameter 16.00
