The CMAPEI is dedicated to providing our members with information and access to programs that will help to develop their museum skills. Museums and heritage sites are always changing and the standard to how to run and care for these sites is also continuously changing. Our one-on-one certificate programs provides Island museum professionals with the opportunity to expand their learning experience within the museum world.
The CMAPEI provides two certificate programs:
Basic Museum Training Certificate ( Level I )
Advanced Targeted Museum Training Certificate ( Levels II, III)
The primary goals to our certificate programs are to provide our members with:
- The opportunity to move beyond entry level training programs
- The opportunity to focus their museum skills into a specialized set of skills
- The potential to provide a knowledge based service to their community museum while enhancing their own skill level
- The potential for acknowledgment of their achievements for their studies using recognizable standards through a certificate program.
Each training course is developed to meet the individual needs and interests of each participant. The participant and the CMAPEI staff will work out the course goals together. The delivery method will be a combination of distance education, directed readings and regular mentoring sessions. The CMAPEI staff will develop individualized curriculum, choose appropriate readings and resources, set evaluation procedures and choose an appropriate mentor. Both participant and CMAPEI staff member will work out an appropriate project and / or thesis for the achievement of the Advanced Level II or III Certificate.
Upon completion, each student will receive a certificate naming the course topic, the level of achievement and the credit units required to complete the course.
level I - Basic Targeted Museum Training Certificate - $ 60.00
Level II / III - Advanced Targeted Museum Training Certificate - $ 100.00
